Community Building Fund Supports Chicopee through COVID-19

Media Release: July 30, 2022

Kitchener – In 2021, The Chicopee Ski and Summer Resort (also known as Chicopee Ski Club)

received a $218,000 grant from the Government of Ontario’s Community Building Fund –

Operating stream. These funds, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF), have

helped provide controlled access to the facility to manage COVID-19 restrictions, have provided

outdoor warming areas while waiting, and are helping improve employee training materials for

seasonal staff onboarding. The grant project concludes this November, and will benefit the

organization for years to come.

“Chicopee Ski Club is a local mainstay for fun outdoor activities, having served both our home

community and visitors from afar for almost 90 years! I’m so pleased to see the Club as a

recipient of this important funding. The grant supports Chicopee in adapting to the challenges of

the pandemic, as well as creating jobs in our community. It also supports the Club in continuing

to deliver their wonderful recreational and team building programs and fostering a lifelong

appreciation for the outdoors in their many visitors.” -Jess Dixon, Member of Provincial

Parliament, Kitchener South-Hespeler

In addition to access control, warming amenities, and training material development, these

funds supported development of a new website and tools to provide customers services on-site

and remotely if required. The grant allows Chicopee to provide a safe and healthy recreational

experience for patrons while meeting or exceeding all public health requirements.

"The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant will be felt for years to come,” said Bill

Creighton, CEO of the Chicopee Ski Club. “This grant has allowed us to be in a better position

to serve our patrons during the COVID-19 restrictions and provided needed upgrades to our

website and training modules. The training modules being developed will provide an excellent

education and onboarding tool for our over 600 seasonal employees facilitating improved

customer service.”

The Chicopee Ski Club is committed to CREATING UNIQUE, FUN-FILLED EXPERIENCES for the
