Summer at Chicopee! Yep, we're more than skiing and snowboarding
fun for the whole family! We're all about the summertime
too...getting outdoors and having fun! Tennis, mountain
biking, beach volleyball, summer camps and our brand new cedar
deck. Open to day users, memberships, special events,
corporate functions, weddings
--we do it all.
History
A retreating
glacier carving through Waterloo Region almost 12 000 years
ago created the hills at
Chicopee. A
similar dogged determination by the founding membership
established the Chicopee Ski Club in 1934 as a not-for-profit
organization providing winter recreation on 165 acres, and
developed since that time by professional engineers and ski
enthusiasts alike. As with any business in existence over 65
years, there have been good times and lean. The driving force
behind the growth and prosperity of
Chicopee over the
years has been the spirit of its members, volunteers and
employees. We are a proud community partner that continues to
involve itself in making the community as a whole, a better
place to live.
With a new
emphasis being placed on operating as a year round facility,
Chicopee was proud
to offer the community several new recreational opportunities
for the summer of 2005 and even more options in
2006. This summer we will be continuing to build upon the
success of our 'sport-themed' summer camp programs. Last year
our Mountain Bike and Multi-Sport camps were hugely popular
with kids of all ages and we look forward to seeing many of
those same faces again this summer, in addition to lots of new
ones. Our existing Tennis operation has been around for 29
years. A new addition to our offerings last year was the AMPED
XC Mountain Bike series. This year its back with some new
sponsors, more events and an end of season 8-hour endurance
race in late September! So get your team of 4 together now and
come out for a great day of fun, outdoor fitness and friendly
competition!
At
Chicopee we value
the community’s support and we hope you take the opportunity
to visit us this summer!
